West Greenwich Animal Hospital welcomes you to our website!

The West Greenwich Animal Hospital is located on Route 102 in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, near the Coventry town line.  Since opening in January of 1995, we have been happy to help care for pets from West Greenwich, Coventry, Exeter, Foster, and Scituate.  We have some clients who bring their pets to us from as far as Providence and Newport, Rhode Island, as well as Plainfield, Connecticut.

Canine Obesity Just How Bad Is It?
Stop Canine Obesity visit the website www.stopcanineobesity.com

Canine obesity is an important and very common medical condition with serious health implications. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has estimated that there are 41.2 million pet dogs in the United States. Other sources estimate 40 percent of those dogs, approximately 17 million, are overweight or obese.  A recent study conducted by Pfizer Animal Health found that veterinarians consider 47% of their patients overweight or obese but only 17% of dog owners think the same.  Why the difference?  It could be denial or the difficulty owners have in recognizing when their dogs are overweight.

Please visit Tuffy's weight loss page to read about his success.

We are currently working on featuring a Dog and Cat breed every few weeks: please send me a photo (pets only, no people please) to mlharrington@wgah.net with your name, your pet's name, and breed. You may also include any cute stories you wouldn't mind me sharing.

Thank you,
 Melissa
